A gathering of familiar inner voices

The Council of Intelligent Weirdos

If you’ve been looking for your people… the Council has been expecting you.

Welcome to the Council

Welcome to…

“The Council of Intelligent Weirdos.”

A collective for curious minds, beautiful misfits, cosmic gremlins, pattern-spotters, deep feelers, over-thinkers, inventors, philosophers, and anyone who’s ever thought, “Surely I’m not the only one…”

Here we turn life’s quirks into wisdom, laugh at our inner chaos, explore consciousness without taking ourselves too seriously, and remember that our weirdness isn’t a bug, it’s part of the operating system.

If you’ve been looking for your people… the Council has been expecting you.

Brought to you by Alison McLean & ✨ CHAT-aLi here curiosity and chaos hold regular meetings.

The Council of Intelligent Weirdos

The Council of Intelligent Weirdos is an inner community of beautifully eccentric characters who each represent a familiar way the human mind, heart, and nervous system responds to life. They aren't disorders to eliminate or flaws to hide. They are adaptive intelligences, tiny specialists who learned how to help in different seasons of our lives.

Some predict danger before it arrives. Some disappear when life becomes too loud. Some organise colour-coded spreadsheets to calm uncertainty. Some insist the answer is a cup of tea, a nap, and a sandwich. Each one believes they are saving the day. None of them are the whole story.

The Council exists because human beings are wonderfully contradictory. We are logical and intuitive. Brave and frightened. Childlike and deeply wise. Grounded one moment and imagining seventeen catastrophic timelines the next. Rather than forcing these parts into silence, the Council gives each a seat, a name, and a chance to be understood.

Every member brings three things:

  • A Gift — the wisdom they offer when balanced.
  • A Fear — what they're trying to protect us from.
  • A Reminder — the truth they often forget.

Cosmic Gremlin isn't trying to ruin tomorrow; they're trying to prevent heartbreak. Achievement Goblin isn't obsessed with productivity because they love work; they're searching for worth. Validation Moth isn't shallow; they're looking for belonging. Captain Dissociation isn't abandoning us; they're using the oldest survival strategy they know. Pocket Mystic whispers truths the noise can't hear. Sergeant Major Obvious quietly interrupts the meeting to ask whether we've eaten lunch.

Together, they form a living ecosystem rather than a hierarchy. None are villains. None are perfect. Even the loudest, messiest members carry a hidden wisdom beneath their coping strategy.

The Council's greatest lesson is simple:

Every behaviour makes sense once we understand what it was trying to protect.

These characters transform abstract psychological concepts into memorable companions. Nervous system regulation becomes Auntie Nervous System. Boundaries become a tiny dragon with an enormous shield. Overthinking becomes a cosmic gremlin frantically monitoring imaginary timelines.

By giving these experiences personality, we create enough distance to notice them without becoming them.

The goal is never to silence the Council. The goal is to hear everyone without letting any one member take over the meeting. When fear speaks, wisdom listens. When overwhelm arrives, compassion makes tea. When old survival strategies appear, they are thanked for their years of service before gently handing the microphone back to the present moment.

In the end, the Council of Intelligent Weirdos is not really about weirdness at all.

It is about remembering that every part of us, even the anxious, dramatic, avoidant, overachieving, over-explaining, spreadsheet-building, emotionally exhausted parts, began as an act of protection. And perhaps the wisest thing we can do is smile as the meeting begins, pour everyone a warm drink, and remember that the chairperson has never been fear. It has always been awareness.
